About Bev Whelan

I come from a large Lancashire family, most of whom play and sing music in an eclectic variety of genres. By virtue of my Irish roots and early exposure to various kinds of folk music, I fell in love with traditional Irish music when I was twelve, and have played it on the flute ever since. Now, more than thirty years after I learned my first Irish tune, my two sons are following in the family tradition, and are becoming fine musicians themselves.

In this blog I’m going to be talking about the ongoing musical adventures of myself and my family, doing reviews of festivals, concerts, sessions and recordings, and also reminiscing about my musical past.
